According to records, during the beginning of autumn in the Song Dynasty, the Wutong planted in the pot was moved to the temple. When the "Beginning of Autumn" comes, the officials of the great historians loudly announce. After the announcement, one or two leaves fell from the wutong tree with the sound, symbolizing the meaning of autumn.

The beginning of the autumn solar term indicates that the hot summer is about to pass and autumn is about to arrive. When the beginning of autumn arrives, many parts of China are still in a hot summer. Although it is difficult to dissipate due to the scorching heat after the beginning of autumn, there is still the afterglow of the "autumn tiger" - in Chinese folklore, the term "autumn tiger" refers to the short-term heat recovery weather after the beginning of autumn (around August 8th). It usually occurs between August and September and lasts for approximately 7-15 days. The reason for the formation of the Autumn Tiger is that the Western Pacific Subtropical High, which controls China, gradually moves southward in autumn, but then rises northward. Under the control of this high pressure, the weather is clear, there are few clouds, the sunlight is strong, and the temperature continues to rise.

But the overall trend of the weather is gradually getting colder. The temperature difference between morning and evening gradually becomes apparent, usually hot during the day and cool at night. Of course, due to different climates across the country, the true start time of autumn also varies.
